Park by the brown information sign at Mt. Mitchell State Park entrance along Highway 128. Bushwack down to the Buncombe Horse Range Trail and go EAST at the trail junction. There are two grassy meadows at Salt Rock Gap with great views of the Green Knob fire tower.
