The route takes you through the Ceiriog Valley to Glyn Ceiriog. It will then lead you on the mountain road which is a Fire road in parts, before coming down to the back of Llangollen. You ride through and out of Llangollen (Llangollen is ideal for stopping to get snacks/food), onto the 'Horseshoe Falls'. We popped the bike over the fence to get back onto the road from there, but you always backtrack a little, we're talking yards. You then turn off for Llantysilio which will bring you out at the base of the 'Horseshoe Pass'. There is a Pub there called 'The Britannia Inn' if you fancy a pint although it's closed at present due to Covid. That will need updating as and when. You then turn off for Pentredwr which will entail alot of ascent again, (hence the thigh buster), but this will bring you around the back of 'Dinas Bran' (Crow Castle). Eventually it will bring you down to the main road which you cross, over the bridge and down to the Canal. This is a fantastic ride, crikey the scenery, (take phone/camera). This is best suited Roadies, Gravel bikes, and retro MTB (that's me). Modern moutain bikes although doable are out of their natural habitat and you may soon realise that. Roadies if you have more grippy tyres you may want them. Although all roads bar the Canal, the surface can be sometimes similar to the Canal due to some being Fire roads and off the beaten track. You can start from anywhere in Chirk or near it if you knowledgable of the area. The only reason it goes off up a road is because it's where we started and I was measuring to the car. Good journey, stay safe. :-)
